Public Consultation: Addressing Nuclear Risks on the Great Lakes

Concrete Actions

By: Fawn Edwards

Dear friend,

This morning, the Registered Nurses’ Association, Canadian Environmental Law Association, and Greenpeace held a press conference to launch A Call for Public Safety and call on the Ontario government to protect people from Fukushima-scale accidents.

There has since been an overwhelming media response. Thank you for helping to make this statement such a success!

Why did we do this now?

Because the time is finally here: the province’s nuclear emergency planning review was launched on Monday.

We have until July 14th to tell the Wynne government she must protect Ontarians from a nuclear emergency on the Great Lakes.

Over the next two months, we’ll be in touch with you regularly to make sure you have everything you need to make this review really matter.

To start, can you share the press conference, release, and media coverage through your networks and social media accounts?

SHARE STORY:Nurses say Ontario must do more to prepare for a nuclear disaster

There’s a lot to do, but if we rally together, this is an unprecedented opportunity to make real progress towards our shared vision of a government that protects public safety, not the nuclear industry’s profits.

Every one of us will need to do everything in our capacity to show the Wynne government that A Call for Public Safety is more than words on a page — it’s a demand for change.

That could mean making a submission in this review on behalf of your group, encouraging your supporters to participate, or meeting with your municipal politicians to express your concerns.

Whatever you’re able to do to help, I’m confident that if we rally together, we will succeed.

In solidarity,

-Fawn

-Fawn
